IEEE 5G World Forum - Worldwide 5G Industry Fora Session 2020

5G Trends and Collaborations: Regional Visions, Verticals and Inter-Regional Cooperation Activities

Governmental entities and several research bodies from different regions of the globe, are conducting studies and efforts in order to shape up 5G, accelerate its deployment, and test its potential performance in real world. In the ITU-R, the process of developing Recommendations for the terrestrial components of the IMT-2020 radio interface(s) is on-going and the final IMT-2020 specifications are expected by June 2020. In the 3GPP, 5G specific first functionalities are under standardization (Release 15) and their finalization was done in September 2018, whereas the full 5G vision (Release 16) is expected by June 2020. 5G first commercialization is planned by many countries in the coming few years. In this worldwide industry sessions, we invite leading 5G industry associations from different regions and countries to share and discuss their current activities, visions and future roadmaps towards 5G deployment, and also to develop on international industry collaboration.

5G-Drive coordinator Uwe Herzog is a key note speaker at the Worldwide 5G Industry Fora – Panel 1, where he will do an overview of 5G-DRIVE, use cases, trial sites overview and maybe some results.

Also participating in this panel is Chih-Lin, Chief Scientist of China Mobile Research Institute, the coordinator of the 5G-Drive twin project in China.
